In our effort to celebrate global diversity, we are seeking nominations of exemplary mothers who represent a variety of cultures, countries and perspectives. Inspiring Mothers will serve as a window to the pervasive issues affecting mothers worldwide, different approaches to balancing work or volunteerism and family, and the common threads that bind all caregivers, regardless of home or heritage.
Contributing organizations and individuals will be acknowledged in the book and a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to nonprofit coalitions working to support women and children worldwide.
With the unique and severe challenges women and children face in some of the world’s war-torn, impoverished and developing regions, we are particularly interested in hearing stories of empowered mothers in countries like (but not limited to):
Albania, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Bolivia, China, Congo, Croatia, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guatemala, India, Iraq, Jordan, Mali, Mexico, Mozambique, Nepal, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Vietnam, and Ukraine
Please submit your nominations for exemplary women who meet the following criteria:
- mothers (birth or adoptive) to children under age 19,
- involved in advocacy for women’s or children’s issues at a local or national level,
- initiating positive change in their communities
Send nominations (limit 5 per organization) to celebratingmothers@gmail.com.
All submissions should include:
- Full name of mother
- Detailed description of social activism-- work or volunteer affiliations
- Country of origin and residence
- Number of children and ages
- Contact information (email, telephone, address, website)
